For me the act of painting is an escape.  An escape from reality, an escape from society, an escape even from thought.  In a way I suppose it is for me the closest I can get to a kind of meditation.  The quale is one of pure focus and I have no shortage of it, I only have limited amounts of time to get there.  That is where the name Escape Studio comes from.  Although I am fortunate to have a fantastic life, wonderful family, etc., I cannot live without this escape.
